Outside of School
Employment:
Michigan Sports Academy Softball/Baseball Camp: In the summer I worked with my softballs company and helped girls ages 6 to 14 learn different drills and skills they would use in softball, I loved spending time with the other staff members and the kids playing softball and teaching them to be confident in what they do. After spending time with some of them and being invited to their games and seeing how great of players they became made me feel accomplished for them and for myself, it felt uplifting, I could see them falling in love with the sport after each game just like I did. (For more information about the summer clinic and what was taught can be found https://michigansportsacademy.com/summer-clinic)
Swim Instructor: Besides working at the softball camp I worked with kids ages 4-6 at a family members pool, I taught them how to float on their back and kick with their legs to stay afloat. This job has really taught me patience due to the kids wanting to just jump on in (literally), I was able to improve my communication skills to different ages diue tp this job and it still helps me and improves everyday.
Volunteer Work:
Active Faith: Once every month I try to donate clothes, books, and other items to active faith, I was raised on giving to others and helping whenever someone needed help. I would give them items and help organize items I brought and items other people brought.
Can Drive: I go to the canned food drive drop off center and organize the different foods people bring, I also try to bring in some canned foods especially around winter time to donate, I always enjoy seeing those in need have a smile on their face because they have some food for the week. I try to help out as much as I can and I enjoy working with the other volunteers to make sure the drop off location is kept clean and neat.
Athletics:
Swim: I have been swimming for 13 years and I love it. I swam for South Lyon Sea Lions, then continued my swim career at South Lyon Aquatics. I swam at Junior Olympics and State meets ( Pictures are in Photo Gallery). I have always loved being in the water and splashing around. Swimming has led me to meet some of my closest friends even to this day. Swimming has taught me how to stay determined and even be competitive and work to complete goals that I had set for myself such as getting top 8 in Junior Olympics.
Softball: I have been playing softball for about 8 years. I love being outside, one of the things I loved about softball is how it is such a team sport it is and working with each other and relying on each other to win is a lot of fun! Playing softball has led me to meet some of my closest friends. I've been playing on travel teams since I was 14. I have traveled to Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. It has been so much fun traveling and learning independence while I would be in a separate hotel room and managing time when there would be a tournament during the school year and managing my time in between.
